Do I Have to Fit in the Title? (1/2)
I have to fit in the title I create for myself.
I don’t have to fit in the title that is created for what I do before me.
After all, there’s evolvement and plenty of space for everyone to express themselves and shape their message their own way. Yet, and I’m talking about business definitions, most of us feel like we have to follow fixed patterns of behaviour. Sometimes even squeezing our identity to be fit for purpose. But what purpose? Who defines the purpose of what we do? It’s us.
I don’t know if it’s the digital speed of the information, I don’t know if it’s because our brains are so trained to process and readjust everything to fit whatever we are served, I don’t even know if it’s none of that and it’s just human nature and the need to belong. So fit in in order to belong.
And that’s perfectly fine but what happens to personal expression? What happens to individuality? What happens to just do you?
I observe patterns. And I observe myself and who I’ve grown to become. I’m not a strong believer. I’m an explorer and I want to remain an explorer. And I know there are plenty of explorers like me out there who maybe are losing their focus and try to follow the flow. Do you see? Following the flow is not always a good thing. Or it’s not always the answer.
I’m not a black and white person. I’m a collector of what I feel is right and what I feel is irrelevant. In most cases, besides embedded universal values, ethical choices, and cultural biases, I don’t accept certainties. And I’ll attract those people who believe in searching, who are looking to expand their views and maybe try a different approach just to test it out.
I don’t have to fit in a title that gives me a pre-defined identity I didn’t choose for. I chose the business title, the job, the activity. I don’t have to be in a certain way to serve the title.
We make the titles, we add our personality and beliefs and experiences.
That’s why we don’t have to fit in. I’d say, let’s all fit out and share our gifts with those that are looking for them. Not the other way around.
And now, what about yoga and trends and fitness and health?
I’ll make it more personal in my next post. I promised myself that I won’t write long articles that you guys have no time to read. And I also feel that unless I write articles backed-up with research, short is the way to go for my message to you.
So, coming up I’ll tell you why my fitness journey is different from the rest and yet so similar.
